I am I happy to say I am a Licensed Massage Therapist. My goal is to provide therapeutic massage by meeting each client where they're comfortable and where they currently are in life. No judgment just support. I want to help you on your journey to live a Pain Free Life.

I received my Massage Therapy Certificate from Harper College in 2021. There I studied Swedish, trigger point, myofascial release, and hot/cold therapies. After graduation I joined the American Massage Therapy Association. My knowledge and skills will be ever evolving. In 2022 I received my Reiki Level 1 training. In 2023 I completed Somatic Level 1 Classes and will start teaching people how to heal themselves on their own at home in a group setting! Get your Bloomingdale Park district catalogs now and sign up for your First Somatic Class starting in Oct of 2023.

I have accomplished many things already in life. I have a Bachelor in Business, wrote custom computer software, was a Licensed Real Estate agent in GA, but my most meaningful accomplishment is being a Mom.

I say all of the above so you know I can relate to your real world stressors first hand. I have been in pain and I know about wanting to but not being able to! I have been told I put my "nurturing, caring energy into every massage" I provide. My Purpose is to help people become free of pain and manage stress so you can be the best version of yourself!

I look forward to working with you!

Qualifications Matter

What does it mean to be a Licensed Massage Therapist or LMT In Illinois?

It means your service provider has completed:

  • a minimum of 600 hours of education at an accredited school
  • has clear criminal background and fingerprint checks
  • has passed the State Licensing Exam

Submitted proof of these steps to the State of Illinois. That reviews and verifies all documents and then at their discretion issues a Licensed Massage Therapist certificate to said provider.

Do I need to have a LMT provide my Massage?

What does this mean to you as a client?

Legally this license is required to protect the public from unauthorized illegal providers. It is to protect you as a client on our table. Each state has their own requirements for becoming licensed. The public just needs to be aware that they want to select a legal provider that is licensed in their state. This is not the same license as a general business license that allows us to practice business in a given location. It requires a lot more than just paying a fee for the license as stated.

Many people are surprised at how long it takes to become a LMT.

At Harper College where I took my Massage Therapy Program classes, I was enrolled full time and it took 10 months to complete the program. Obtaining 768 Clock hours at a cost to me of just over $6,000.

We learn the muscles, bones, and their attachment sites. Pathology of when something is not working, and Kinesiology, which muscle does what movement. The information was provided in a way to explain how and why we do the techniques we do and where to do them. We also learned about ethics, health and safety for clients and ourselves, Medication and medical interactions that need to be considered when providing massage. So we have been trained to say when and why we can or cannot provide services. Indications of when a type of massage technique could be beneficial for a client and when it could be dangerous.

With all that I was taught you might think when I got my license that I could do any and all types of massages for anyone right?

Nope.

That year of school provided me with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to offer general massage therapy. Often referred to as Swedish, trigger point, deep tissue, myofascial release, PNT, chair, and a few other massage styles and techniques I am sure I am forgetting.

Continuing Education

Once you get your license you can now legally work on paying customers and can decide what you would like to specialize in or add to your service offerings. Every 2 years in IL all LMT must take 24 hours of continuing education to keep their license eligible for renewal.

Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself and hopefully others with why you want a LMT to work on you!

A few examples of specializations are: Aromatherapy, Prenatal, Hot Stone, Patients with Cancer, Trauma Survivors, Craniosacral Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Medical and Sport, Shiatsu, Thai, Reflexology, Chair, and the list goes on and on. All of which can be taken as part of that continuing education classes that I mentioned.

Should you need or want a special type of massage just ask when you make your appointment.
Are you a LMT trained in this type of massage? If they are not, they might be able to refer you to a colleague that can provide you the service you are looking for.

From all Licensed Massage Therapists we appreciate you and your support.
